The 3DS and the New Animal Crossing
By Massen10

This year's E3 conference, we got to see the Nintendo 3DS. As the name denotes the handheld will have Three Dimensional capabilities, however unlike the movies, you will not need 3D glasses. Said to be the proper successor of the original DS, the 3DS is set to released on the 31st March 2011. Besides the new feature of 3D, the new DS will have an analog stick about the control pad, something which the PSP has had for a long time. In short it will be much like a beefed up DSi with 3D. You may be thinking this is just going to be another "little" upgrade to the last DS, but no, the 3DS will be able to play 3D movies. No movie titles have been announced as of yet, but Nintendo has made deals with Warner Bros, Disney and DreamWorks, all big movie companies. Another major thing for the new console is that it will have a feature enabling it to send and receive information for games you have played, at any time. Whether this is for updates and/or things such as ingame mail is unknown. Games wise for the 3DS you can expect Mario Kart, Assassin's Creed, DJ Hero, Sims and… Animal Crossing.

This is what probably excites most of you about the 3DS: a new Animal Crossing. It has been announced and it will happen. However it won't use the new screen to make the game "pop out" at you, but will add more graphical depth to it. Unlike all other Animal Crossing games, instead of playing as a new resident, you will be playing as Mayor of your town. Where this leaves Tortimer has not been commented on. At the current time there is not too much information on the next installment of Animal Crossing, but some screenshots have been released. The first thing you pick up from them is that your character is a lot taller, they have given you longer legs and more lower body. From the pictures you can also pick up that most of the basics will be there; animals, houses, a beach, flowers, furniture… and as if we didn't already have enough of him, Bob is there also.

Both the 3DS and the new Animal Crossing look amazing, something to really look forward to within the next two years or so, hopefully it won't be any longer then that. As per usual though we will just have to hope that Nintendo can pull them off well.
